I began painting in various media over 45 years ago whilst living in Cornwall and subsequently studied at Falmouth School of Art. Much of my early work was abstract, though through an interest in the Impressionists, landscape and portraiture gradually came to the fore and I started to sell works regularly.

After moving to Bath in the 1970's the lively Jazz scene in the City rekindled my interest in the form (I had played saxophone in Jazz bands semiprofessionally in the 1950's), and a number of portraits on this theme were completed.

St. Thomas-a-Becket church, Box WiltshireCreation window, Litton church near Chewton Mendip, SomersetIn 1979 I began working in stained glass - attracted by the purity of colour and the concept of working directly with light.

Initially I worked on a small scale producing 'light catchers', continuing the themes pursued in my oil paintings. Due to the popularity of these I expanded my activities to include lampshades and illuminated ornaments. Screens and windows soon followed. Attracting more clients through recommendation and building a network of links to supporting craftsmen, I rapidly moved on to much larger projects for churches, schools, business premises and private individuals.

Having traded as PotterGlass for over 20 years I began to feel that the physical work involved in the larger stained glass windows was becoming too much. Painting had taken a back seat during those years, so it was a great pleasure to return to the easel and the odours of linseed oil and fresh canvas. Please take a look at my latest work in the 'Gallery' section of this web site.
